Any decently priced online computer parts stores?

I'm looking to put together a new machine and could save some cash by not paying the tax on all the parts.

Anyone have any suggestions? I looked at Monarch, but I remembered there being some issues with them in the past.

Newegg and ZZF would be the obvious choices, but I'll be taxed up the keester.

You could have an out-of-state friend place the order, receive the parts, then turn around and send them to ya. Depending on what you're buying, that's cheaper than paying tax.

eh, that's too much trouble. 🙂

I'd rather just pay the tax at that point.

I don't know how they are currently, but I have ordered about 5 or 6 times from Directron in the past. They have always been good to deal with and their prices fair.

I've ordered from eWiz before and they were good. I don't know what state they are in though.

This place has good ratings on resellerratings.com and they list their support times in CST, so I don't think they are in Cali, so you probably wouldn't have to deal with taxes there.

Legally, if you order from out of state, you owe the taxes anyway, so why not just pay them and be a good citizen?

Thanks for the info everyone else.

I was thinking that mwave was in NJ. I looked it up and they are in CA too. They are my number two choice.

It's not like you're talking about saving thousands of $$ here...PLUS, how can saving a couple of bux be comparable to NewEgg's "Eggcellent" customer service?

Wow..that'a a pretty high penalty to pay for avoiding sales tax:

http://www.isorm.com/product_info.php?c...sCsid=710ec046a1e5da30eebdc68491bf3aaa

$87.20

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148142
$74.99

8% sales tax would only be about $6.00 on the Newegg buy, PLUS shipping from Florida would be more as well...

I hate to sound like a NewEgg fanboi, but I've never gotten anything but outstanding service from them, and most of the time, their prices are as low as you'll find at any reputable on-line retailer...

Not thousands, but potentially $100+. I'm just weighing my options to find the best deal.

Can we save the self righteousness for a more worthy cause?

Dude, this is ATOT where we're ALL self-righteous!

Actually, I don't blame you for trying to save a buck or 2. I do the same thing in most cases, but have found that USUALLY, buying from Newegg and paying the tax works out to about the same as buying elsewhere and paying the shipping, PLUS you get Newegg's generous return policy...

I'm finding that in most cases it's better to just get it from Newegg, but I wanted to do the research first.

Get someone that lives in NV to receive them for you.

Drive over for the week-end and pick them up.

The cost of fuel may outway the savings.
