Any decent Sci-fi flics?

Another vote here for Cube.

Don't bother watching Cube 2 (it's the same movie... same characters albeit with different actors), and Cube 3 was pretty bad.

Another great movie I can't recommend highly enough is called Cypher. It's got some high profile actors in it (Lucy Liu for one), and was done by the same guys who did Cube.

edit: I also really liked Sky Captain.

for the cheese factor:

Metal Storm: The Destruction of Jared Sin

Where were you a couple days ago when I made a thread describing that movie and asking what it was called?

Its available in full on youtube and still cheesy goodness.
lol

one of my favourite sci-fi movies of all time is: The Monolith Monsters.

ridiculous as it is, its still great fun to watch.

Solaris, both the Clooney one and the original Russian one. Out of the two versions I'd say the Russian one is better, If you don't mind subtitles.

Sound of Thunder - decent rental about what can go wrong with time travel.

No the whole premise of the movie was stupid. Supposedly time was changed because of something the traveling group did...even though a volcano destroyed everything right before they left the past. sorry if that spoiled the movie... it was a piece of crap flick anyway.

Immortal was weird but good, seconded.

The Quiet Earth

RahXephon (anime, series version not the movie)

I third Immortal.

Equilibrium was also good.

Fahrenheit 451

Fire in the Sky (supposedly based on a true story, but it is definitely sci-fi)

For awesome sci-fi cheese- I Come In Peace (Spoiler: You leave in pieces asshole! )

Alien Nation

Silent Running (tree hugger message pisses some people off, but still a classic that every sci-fi fan should see once.)

You can't go there, and not mention Solarbabies 😛

edit: I think Tank Girl should be mentioned too.

I was going to say Solaris, the new one (haven't seen the original).
Very under rated.

And its not outer space but try The Navy vs. the Night Monsters

I haven't seen those 2.

There are other cheesy sci-fi movies out there.

First Spaceship on Venus
Planet of Vampires
Journey to the Seventh Planet
Queen of Outer Space
Night of the Blood Beast
The Incredible Melting Man
The Navy vs The Night Monsters
