Any decent phones with screens as big as Note 5?

Other than the Galaxy S6+ Edge or whatever. Do those two hold the honor of the biggest screens? Was looking for something with a big screen like they have, but that I might buy an unlocked one to use with my Sprint service, whereas the Note 5/S6+ edge is mightily expensive.

If you're in the use, 6P is an option. Everywhere else you're better off waiting till next year if you don't want the Samsungs.

Nexus 6P has the latest Samsung AMOLED panel so it's definitely another option.

The only weakness I have been experiencing is that it throttles badly only in intensive games. Absolutely fast in every other scenario.

so yeah, the largest phones you can get on sprint are nexus 6 (5.9") and 6P/Note-Edge series/Moto X Style (5.7")

so you're very limited

AFAIK, you can buy a nexus 6/6P/moto X style, get a simcard from Sprint (good luck getting this completed), and just put sim card in device and activate

last I checked, a lot of sprint stores don't know the policy around handing out sim cards, or refuse to do so if the phone isn't from Sprint

(since they've been stuck in the CDMA age without sim cards where the sales rep has to go on the phone and activate it)

I see the Nexus 6P has a little bit better processor specs, but think I'd prefer the lesser price and bigger display of the 6.

Not sure if you've put the pieces together yet, but the Nexus 6 is older technology (released last year). The 6P is the latest and greatest with an AMOLED screen as seen in the Samsung phones, so that's part of the price difference. You're kind of comparing a Note 5 to a Note 4. The Nexus 6 is a decent phone, it's just older tech. The 6P is what I'd get if my Note 4 broke today.

I would recommend the nexus 6P though...

much better camera + battery life, and option of larger capacity.... go for it if you can afford it

Yep, I gave up on samsungs latest junk and got the LGV10. They even included an IR blaster.

Honestly, even though the Nexus 6P is newer, the original Nexus 6 is better in some ways, battery life is equal, speakers are better quality and it's better at holding signal. Also, the Nexus 6P is missing wireless charging, which the original Nexus 6 has. All that for about half the price of the Nexus 6P. I bought two Nexus 6.

So you say but it's considered to be accurate.


You would also be wrong if you're saying it's not the same panel considering we had a Google engineer say so in a Reddit AMA. I had both a Note 5 and a Nexus 6P on desk too (Note 5 was returned because unlocked models can only be in 32GB otherwise I'd still be using it since I like the stylus).


In the end, it's a good panel and the quality is more than good to anyone who is reasonable which the thread's OP seems to be.

Are you sure? I wasn't terribly impressed with the 6P's battery life since I came from the LG G2 but most people say it's better than the Nexus 6. The availability of 128GB and the superb camera puts the 6P over the top for me really.

Show me any proof at all that what he said is a fact and i'll shut up. Also, all he said was it was a current gen. Samsung AMOLED panel. He never specifically said it was the panel in the note5 (which by the way is the current best tested AMOLED display ever)

The panel in the 6P doesn't get as bright, it doesnt have the same color accuracy or white point levels. It also seems to use more battery life.


It might be a note4 panel, but I highly doubt it is the panel in the note5.

Okay, show me proof that they tested the brightness of the panel properly (auto-brightness) and you can have your cake. I'm not even going to ask about the battery life assertion since it's pretty obvious that nobody outside of Anandtech would actually test that properly.
