my main monitor kicked the bucket and I am on the old CRT for now. I can not stand not being able to play in widescreen not to mention this thing is just butt ugly on my desk.

anyway just was wondering if there any good recommendations out there for a smaller tv that could double as a good pc monitor.

I've been happy with my Vizio XVT323SV 32" LED tv I picked up at samsclub. It has an IPS panel so it's not a cheaper model. Text is crisp color looks great. Don't do much gaming so input lag wise ??? It runs about $500 tho as it has wifi, apps, Bluetooth, etc.

Tv's are gonna be hit and miss. Pretty much gotta try them and see. 1080P can only be stretched so far before text will suffer. I guess it's a matter of screen quality at what point it doesn't look good anymore.

This is a very good monitor for the price:

For $250 bucks, you can't really beat it. I got one shipping to me right now and will be in next Tuesday.

Response time 3ms, not bad, but most people aren't going to have to worry about a 1ms difference in a 2ms screen, the difference won't even matter unless you are playing an extremely high responsive game like a fighting game or something, but for FPS, MMOs, or RPGs, 3ms is plenty good enough response.

Please provide link/s to back up your claim.

This post is made with my I-INC iH282 at native 1920x1200 resolution. It is a computer monitor and work perfectly for movies (I ran about a dozen movies through it).

Just to put another option out there, you could use any pc monitor and mate it with something like a Hauppauge usb tv tuner device.http://www.hauppauge.com/. I got rid of tv service a few years ago,but the only downside i saw to using one was a slight lag in channel changing, but the picture was really great..

I can't imagine looking at a TV for text for extended periods, even the better quality sets around 32-36 inches. I'd get a PC monitor even if you have to compromise on size. Gaming/movies only would be fine of course, but desktop use for hours = no thanks.

Text doesn't need to be razor sharp. Many people use 32"+ TV for a monitor and text among other things look fine. Hell I'm using a Samsung 32" 720p (custom res of 1266x712) and it looks fine. Though I still need to replace this thing as 1080p desktop looks bad. I'm looking at Vizio's. Otherwise it'd probably be an LG.

Hello there! i got a xhd3000 from work who said it flickered and what the heck, i cant break it anymore then it is now so i set it up and yep.. Flickers pretty damn bad. i presently have 2 24"s and wow..30 in. is big! so.. i think its time to get a bigger main screen. Head to best buy and start talking to a guy..and tells me, they dont sell 30 monitors why not get a tv.. hmmm..

liking some.. saw a sony (the instant web one)but no vga connection.. damn... asked about 60hz and was told, 1080p/120 is best but they dont come that small.. been liking samsungs tv's they look sharp..

then was thinking 3d.. looked for something in the 30" range.. closest was the Acer HN274H.. 27.. next was the alienware one.. may require changing vc's.. (have ati atm) or maybe go sli with them. unsure.

longer story shorter.. headed to here to do some research.. found some good articles /posts.. more reading needed!!

thoughts and thanks in advance
