Any deals or best prices on WinXP Pro?

Looking to purchase two licenses. Does anyone know of any specials or deals going on anyway for WinXP Pro? So far, all I've seen ranges from $140-150, give or take. Thanks.

thought you could get OEM for under $120ish, could be wrong.

The other big question, do you need pro, or will home work? Home is cheaper, although I prefer pro (no real reasons, I just have used both and when I had to pony up some money, I got pro).

Just checked with the person I'm building these boxes for. Looks like I'm going to need four licenses. The PCs are going to be used at his business (small office environment) so we're looking for the Pro version. I found this one place online, but I've never used them before.

They have one package for $121 (CD only) w/key code and another OEM package for $135.98.

Anyone know the differences between the two as far as licenses go?

They do have a pretty good deal (I guess) on an OEM 3pack for $388.18, but I'll still have to buy another fourth single license.

the first one looks fishy, like they have a dell license code or something. The other two links look legit, so that makes me feel better about the first. I would get a 3 pack and the one OEM, or get 2 three packs and you have room to expand the biz later on. THe holographic CD and COA look legit. If you wonder about their status, call MS and ask if these guys are legit, they can probably tell you.

That $121 copy, while it probably will activate, does not include a license. So while you might have that warm fuzzy feeling of thinking you're atleast attempting of doing the right thing - reality is you just wasted $121. You might as well just pirate Windows than purchase a NFR copy.

Moral of the story is, there's really no "amazing deal" to be found on WinXP and have it still be a fully licensed copy, so just pick up a copy at Newegg or your other favorite big name retailler.

Sometimes I use Newegg... but a majority of the time.. if I am in need of OEM software, and I want to ensure it is LEGIT, I go nowhere but BuyCheapSoftware.com

Legit, and have been in business for quite a long time. Recently, they even still carried OEM of DOS 6.22 and Win 3.11
They have everything

Interesting links, I didn't think there really was such a thing as discounted Windows XP.

I just wonder what will happen when I inevitably upgrade to Windows Vista. My XP copy is an Upgrade edition, so I have to stick the old Win98 CD in the drive when (re)installing it to prove I qualify for the upgrade. If I get an upgrade copy of Vista, perhaps I'll need to put in the XP cd, then the Win98 cd, to prove that I qualify for the upgrade of the upgrade?

yeah, if you had a distributor license you could order it from Microsoft in bulk for cheap I suppose. Those vendors are selling the OEM's for some profit at least.
