Any deals for switching satellites?

I'd like to get rid of dish network, and get direct TV. Would also like to get a DVR or Tivo of some sort if i could, i was wondering if direct TV is doing any kind of promotion to tempt dish network users, i've heard of those kinds of things in the past.

You can get a Tivo pretty cheap when you're a new customer; sometimes the deal is like $50 for a tivo and 2-3 other receivers.

What do i do with my dish network dish and receiver though? Just chuck it in the trash? =p

Don't think so. If the Dish network stuff belongs to you then sell it, chuck it, whatever floats your boat.

EBay the receiver. Make sure it has a "clear card". Let Dish know you are selling it, so they can CLEAR the card for new ownership. You can toss the dish itself. However, keep (EBay) the actual LNB(s) from the dish. They go bad sometimes, and people buy them on EBay. They are light, small, and easy to ship.

You can get a DirecTiVo for $50 AR even if you're a DirecTV customer. You can normally get at least a 2-room system free when you first sign up though.
