Any DDR2 AMD boards that POST w/ a Phenom II X6 1055T OOTB?

I'm upgrading to a 1055T soon, and would like to reuse my existing G.Skill DDR2. Was wondering if there were any boards out there that would initally post & then allow for a BIOS update?

Not looking to spend too much (<$100). I was initially considering the Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3, and the Biostar TA790XE.

Or should I just sell my DDR2 & get an 8xx series board + DDR3? :hmm:

I have my ddr2 on eBay right now because of the 1055
The CPU is a beast. Looks lie I may get around $75 for my 4gbs of 1000mhz gskill too. Not bad considering they cost around that muchwhen I got them 2 years ago.

Yeah, RAM prices are ridiculous. The ddr2 I have costs roughly $20 more than when I bought it a year or so ago.

According to this thread, 2nd post from the bottom page 28 the Foxxcon A79A-S supports both the ram and the cpu and its "only" $99 after a wopping $40 MIR at Newegg.

My friend has been running that board for over a year with a mild overclock with zero issues.

I have a Asus M4A77D that was able to POST with 5 months old bios. It didn't recognize the 1055T correctly, but was enough to flash to latest bios which did.

I wasn't able to to get to 4ghz though. I am not sure if it's because of the mobo, psu, or cpu.

Check out asrock a785gxh or similar mb's. He'll they can even unlock a 4th core on 3 core chips.

What's really screwy is that the latest amd chipset WIlLL support ddr2 mem but no mother board maker is smart enough to tap into that market allowing for a cheap upgrade path with the latest cpus amd has and then all you really need is a good gpu and an asus u3s6 and you have a he'll of a system. Ddr3 really doesn't add that much compared to upgrading a system to a 6 core amd. Some MB maker should see the potential here and allow a 400 cpu + 80 MB to allow ddr2 legacy users a state of art machine that bbeats 90 percent of machines out there.

You said it! That's why I want to re-use my DDR2. Don't care about DDR3, & I'm not concerned with future socket compatibility. Not looking for anything w/ onboard video or mATX, btw.

Hmm, some people have been able to Flash their BIOS using a USB Flash Drive to get old Mobos to recognize X6's. You probably should have bought one of them.

That said, start reading up on the Mobo you bought to see if you can do the same.
