Its really different. I don't know if I would classify it as EDM. It really does sound like a retro album 70s/80s disco/funk album.

I love daft punk, one of the best out there right now. I haven't actually heard the recent album yet.

Having a second listen - and I think it's maybe a bit too heavy on the cheese. I'm not one to disapprove "ironic" music, where you take a concept, and bring it over the top (Borgore, Die Antwoord, that kind of thing), but this album seems to be not going far enough most of the time, but too far almost all of the time.

Maybe it will grow on me - going to give it a few more listens.

huge fan, haven't gotten into the next album yet, only thing i've heard is "get lucky" and i thought it was decent.... i hope the album sounds more like old daft..

I was going to start my own thread, but this seems appropriate here. I'm sure some industry executive or RIAA talking head can justify this somehow; but seriously WTF?!

It doesnt sound like older daft punk because older daft punk was all synth and robots, this is not anything like that and you will likely be disappointed if that's what you expect. This is funk, more natural, less robot.

I have to admit I was a little bit underwhelmed on the first listening. I thought the songs were okay, maybe a little weird, but none of them stood out as something as ground breaking as Around the World or Da Funk. It just didnt live up the hype surrounding this release. The album wasn't Daft Punk enough for me, and I turned into one of the haters.

It took a few days and a few play-through for everything to click in. The songs flow in and out perfectly. It's emotional, it's groovy, it's like a musical journey you experience. There isnt as a single track that I dislike on the whole album, they all fit into place. Fucking love it.

Extra track from the Japanese release:

You do know that you get the entire MP3 album via autorip when you buy the CD?
Not sure why there is a price difference. I ordered the cd yesterday, downloaded the mp3's with autorip today and will get the cd tomorrow through Prime.
Thanks Amazon!

you will get the same effect with any easy-listening artist; not saying it's bad, but i have been there already and i'm glad i'm out.

They go by pre-orders on Amazon. You will see that everywhere from music to video games to movies.

Anyways, I always buy the CD and rip to FLAC at home, but I don't see the logic behind this one. You get the mp3s instantly and a CD in the mail for a savings of $2.

I'm listening to their 2006 Live @ Coachella set and man, it's sooooooooo different than this album.

Ordered the CD and downloaded the mp3s. Having a good time with this album. Very good. Its nice to have good music again.
