Any "cool" Full-Tower cases?

I'm looking for a somewhat cool-looking full-tower case with an (optional) slide-out (or side-flipout) motherboard tray. I don't want the ugly InWin Q500 (no offense).

Need 5 or more 5.25" bays and many 3.5" bays.

The Lian PC-70 does NOT have the slide-out mobo tray. Can you recommend a case?

** I guess I won't mind it if it doesn't have a slide-out tray **

I saw it at a computer show, it didn't feel solid. But thanks anyway.

damocles,

I couldn't find that case anywhere.. Do you know where I can buy it and how much it would cost?

P.S. It doesn't have that many drive bays, but it will probably do :)

I was mad the antec case I wanted didnt have a pull out mobo tray. But when I got it, it is so roomy I do not miss the feature at all.

TunaBoo,

Which Antec case do you have?

Is it the SX-1240? I read a review somewhere saying that there is a large metal plate running horisontally in the middle of the case. It prevents good cooling (the plate separates the 5.25" cage and the 3.5" cage.

Is that the case you have? if so, how inconvenient is that plate?

There is a $46 full tower with a slide out tray at webuildpcs.com. At that price you could afford to mod the Hell out of it. It was given a good review by some OC site.

Hope that helps.

Guys,

It seems difficult to find a cool case with lots of bays AND a slide-out mobo tray. I guess I can live with a regular, non-sliding, mobo tray.

So if you have any ideas for such a case (I don't care about geeking it up, err.. modding it), please let me know!

Up to $250 with or without the PSU will do :)

Antec SX1030. 6 3.5" bays (If you put your floppy in a 5-1/4 bay), 300 watt antec PSU, 2 inatake and 2 exhaust fans spots with neat mounting brackets. It's nice and roomy. The side is a door that is easy to take off and lockable. Comes in black if you so desire. as far as I know is one of the better cases where air circulation is concerned.

I have the antex case with 4 5 1/4 inch bays, and 2 3 1/2 inch bays, and has the door over the 5 1/2 inch bays. It is black ;)

Im not good with model numbers, its hard enough to remember I have a netgear fa311 NIC and a netgear rt311 router and a netgear fs108 switch, and a 1 GHz AXIA Y T-Bird.

Bleh.

Anyways, this case isn't as big as you wanted, but I LOVE it ;)

I have the Antec SX1240... Metal Plate! Ha! I got fans up the ying yang. I fan here, and a fan there and then some here and under here and over there and inbetween there...

That'll get the air flowing.

RedShirt,

You're the man I want to talk to!
Please answer a couple of questions as I am almost ready to buy this case :)

1. About that horisontal plate. Is it difficult to install memory or the mobo itself because of that plate? Is it in the way?

2. Is the case loud (not counting the CPU cooler, but counting the power supply and the included case fans)?

3. What is your gender, race and sexual orientation? :)

Just kidding about the last one. Huge thanks in advance for the first 2.

Umm... Yeah, you better be joking about the last one :)

1. If you have a normal sized MB, it should be NO PROBLEM at all... Fits with ease. If your motherboard is extra wide, it will fit easily again... If your motherboard is tall, then you may want to avoid this case... But again, let me stress... any regualar ATX MB should fit without a hitch.

2. The case is really really quiet... I was very surprised about how quiet that 400 watt was. You only hear a slight hum... But that is only with the included fans... if you add your own, it gets louder (of course).

One of my roomates only runs it with the included fans and his case is pretty quiet. Not silent, but more quiet than my old enlight case with one case fan, a slot fan, and a Sparkle 350 watt PS.

I hope this answers your questions.

VBboy. If you look at the original ALASKA case w/ cooling. you do get an excellent deal. Also it comes with 6ea 5.25" ext bays and 2ea 3.5" ext bays. also 3ea int 3.5" bays.. The new cases are inwin and i know you don't like them but, look at the original.

You could somehow mod the case to get that metal bar out... But if it is that big of a concern to you, you should simply buy a different case.

For myself, I'm not concerned at all by it. It keeps my wireing nice and tidy, and I do have a lot of fans in the case.
