Any comments on ViewSonic?

A friend is considering a ViewSonic G90FB (black case). He can get it for $299. Anyone with experience with this one or other models?

I have a 19" viewsonic PF790 and love it... I can't tell you about that monitor's quality, but I damn well know the one I have totally kicks ass 🙂

1600 x 1200 @ 77Hz
1280 x 1024 @ 89Hz
1024 x 768 @ 118Hz

For a 19" that isn't bad, but it isn't really great either. 1600x1200 will be doable, but not for someone like me who needs 85Hz or else my eyes start going nuts. $300 seems to be about the going price on PriceWatch.. if this friend can get it for 300 shipped, it isn't a bad deal.

My G90FB has served me fairly well. One thing I have noticed is reflections off the front glass onto the screen. If I have a black work area with a light coloured scrollbar around the edge, I can see a light reflection on the black... I've gotten used to it, doesn't bother me at all, and it's not really noticable. Could just be this monitor as well.

As for resolutions, I run 1280x1024 @ 85 and all seems well. Anything higher than that, and I've got to turn up all the fonts so I can read them, and I don't really see the point in bothering with that.

If I had to make the choice on which monitor to buy again, I would definately go with this one, but I would buy it from a different store... I paid $540 CDN. 🙂

Does Viewsonic use Samsung tubes?

I could be wrong, but I think my PF795 uses a Sony tube.
