Hello Guys:

I might be in need for a mobo for a backup puter & want to use a case that I have already for micro ATX mobos. Also want to use SDRAM PC100 which I have already.

Would anybody care to comment on the ECS K7SEM board.

TIA

Had one...loved it, super stable. Only sold it 'cause I needed a board with more PCI slots. BTW it could even play UT nicely at 640x480. You might want to look for its brother the M810-comes with a modem and 4-channel sound.

I second what DieHardware said, the K7SEM's sister product M810LMR (brought to you by the same
company) is the better deal - using the SiS chipset's own LAN rather than a separate Realtek chip,
including an AMR modem in the box, and having 4-channel sound and Athlon XP compatibility.
Make sure you get board revision 7.0 or later for the latter property.

Is it really 4-channel sound? Are there 2 plugs or something?

Exactly ... you can choose to have two line-outs and no mic in, or one line-out and a mic-in. There is an additional Audio header
on the mainboard as well (for cases that have front audio connectors). Learn about the details from the manual - it is downloadable
from www.pcchips.com.tw.
