Not going to happen since they dont make XP drivers anymore. From Vista perhaps.

But lets see, by the time Vulkan gets released the IHVs may have dropped Vista support as well.

I must clarify; I had read somewhere that it was XP through 10 but it looks like 10, 8.1, 8, 7 are for sure in and that Vista and XP are only rumored/TBD

I only bring the message, this is what ive been able to find online as what people say they are discussing in the khronos group for vulkan. Whether XP/Vista support materializes or not is not yet decided by the people who can make that decision, but I too find it unlikely.

Well we just have to see on driver support. Try fid a Maxwellv2 driver for XP for example.

And AMD doesnt even list anything below Windows 7 for Fury+300 series.

I didnt check much, but Broadwell and Skylake wont go below Windows 7 either.

No way DX12 will come to windows 7 or 8.

Depending on how many gamers upgrade their OS to Win10 within the next year, there may already be games that require DX12 and won't run on win7 by holiday 2016. I know EA's DICE had expressed interest in this, but obviously only if the very large majority of there user base has windows 10.

I highly doubt there will be a "making DX12 work" for anything that is not Windows 10. Linux barely has a D3D9 driver working right now.

As someone who has been using Win10 since the previews, I think I can easily say that going back to 8.1 is nothing I want to do, and I find the idea of going back to Windows 7 abhorrent. I'll live with the *small* problems in Windows 10 (small to me. My personal view is that everyone is blowing problems with Windows 10 way out of proportion. There's a reason most reviews are saying it's the next Windows 7.)

I said this when XP fell off the support train, and I'll say it here too: I don't know how many lines of code Windows is, but let's just go with "massive" - it isn't fair to expect a company to support a *massive* piece of software ad infinitum - certainly not when the only way they get money from the end user is when they buy the license.

Even with Windows 10, I believe the language is that "you are supported on Windows 10 for the life of the device as long as the device remains up to date" - stop installing updates, stop receiving support. So the Windows 10 of July 29th is not the Windows 10 you'll see next year. And it would seem the way they want to profit now is by getting you to use the app store, getting you into groove music, integration with XBox services and so forth.

Must be your hardware,also why would they want to put DX12 on an OS that is on its way to EOL?..Does not make sense at all.

You want the latest then get the latest OS.
I find it ironic some people will spend hundreds on hardware for gaming but when it comes to Win10 for free for home users(on 7/8/8.1) that has DX12 they are still not happy.
