I am looking for some casual games with some strategic depth. I was playing Onslaught like crazy (tower defense), but I am done with it.

Doesn't have to be a flash game, anything really but it has to be casual.

what exactly is casual a measure of? the amount of time it takes to learn? the amount of money it costs? the graphical quality? the size of the program?

I dont know how casual you mean.
Theres about a thousand cheap puzzle games available online for 5-15 bucks.

I like Disciples 2. It can be found at Target for 20 bucks and its pretty easy to get into. Similar to Age of Wonders or Heroes of Might & Magic, but much better.

Stronghold crusader deluxe.
You can find it online really cheap.
If you liked tower defense I think you will really like crusader.

that describes virtually every good game.

Street fighter? easy to learn near impossible to master
UT2k4? easy to learn, near impossible to master

etc etc

Forgot the best game there is that is easy to learn, but has more depth than anyone can master.

Ok let me narrow it down: preferably strategy games, also I am looking for simplicity, I should be able to learn it very quickly.

handdrawngames DesktopTowerDefence is one of the best of simple-yet-addictive free games.
