Any cable installer forums/websites?

I'm wondering if anyone here might know of a good site/forum for cable installers. I'm basically looking for some tips and a buy/sell/trade forum for tools tips of the trade.

Thanks

nope, sorry. I dont trust compression fit ones for some reason, always prefered the crimp. compression is a lot more portable though

i think the blades cost almost as much as the strippers, lol. kinda like a shaving razor, i guess.

i suppose its probably cheaper to find the stuff online

Yeah, the CTP is right around $19.95 online, the compression is a wee bit more.

So, do you do cable work?

not usually, no. I work on some RF products and we always need cables to hook them up to test equipment, so i make them once in a while.

When it comes to a crimper.
Get a good one that has dies that can be swapped.
And it needs to be a ratcheting crimper

Kings and ADC make good ones

For basic "F" connectors on RG-6, Snap and seal has a good system

What cable are you using?
Triax?
Coax?
1694A, 8281, RG-59

What connectors?
BNC, RCA, SMA?

I like RG-6 quad with the Thomas & Betts Snap & Seal compression F connectors.
I use a cheap compression tool that I bought at Lowes for $13 (Zenith brand). It works great.

Scratch that I use Coaxial snap and seal "F" connectors.

I need a good compressor, Cable pro stripper (yellow), and a Terminator key...
