Any BIOS setup needed for dual channel?

I got a 2GB (two 1 GB) dual channel kit on its way. This is my first experience with dual channel. Do I just stick the memory in and the board automatically recognizes the dual channel memory? Or do I have to configure something in the BIOS/windows?

Also, do I have to set timings in the BIOS or is that automatic as well?

I have an abit VT7 board.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should just have to put the sticks in the right slots (check the manual). Other than that it should be automatic.

How do people measure the timings. I've seen numerous newegg reviews that say that some particular memory stick is supposed to be run at 2.5-3-3-8, but it really is running at 3-4-4-8 (I just made up those timings as you can probably tell...I have no idea if they are even possible). How do I determine the actual timings that the memory is running at?

If you go into the bios under dram configuation and select run by spd on the first option. It will tell you what they are rated at
