Any benefit to Crossfiring AMD A6-5400K with Radeon HD 6570

recently built an HTPC using the AMD A6-5400k. Works perfectly for 1080p video and the like, but curious about pusing the limits of gaming with it. Does anyone here have experience hybrid Crossfiring that APU with the Radeon HD 6570? Will the benefit of doing so even be worth it?

If I remember correctly there is almost no benefit, and it can actually have and adverse effect at times.

huh, that is bizarre. I've read some conflicting reports, and nobody seems to have actually tested anything with the A6-5400k.

But he's using a different card, the recommended card for crossfire with the A6-5400k is the HD6570.

doesn't sound like a good idea,
first it's a "dual core" CPU, than you look at the GPU and it's half the A10, only 12 TMU and 192 sps, the high clock should help, but this should still be significantly slower than the 6570 (24TMU),
it might work, but it's probably not a good option...

I wouldn't be surprised if in many games using only the 6570 would give you a clearly better experience,

also be careful when buying the 6570,
this card should use 128bit DDR3 or DDR5, but now you can find much slower 64bit versions....

imo you should just buy a card for what it is and forget about the CF, the 7750 sounds like a great choice, you can have one for $85, and it can beat/compete with the A10+6670 DDR5 in CF with less problems.

thanks for that, great response. My only other limiting factor which I forgot to mention is that it's a Mini-ITX build with a 120W power supply so I don't even think any of the above mentioned cards will work. I'm going to have to measure how much wattage my machine is putting out to see if it will stay within the limits, but I bet it will be pushing it too close for comfort.

The version of 6570 wouldn't matter for this use because I don't doubt that the GPU's memory would be handicapped in XFire by the CPU's memory regardless of which card you buy.

If you are interested in gaming, the power supply is your real problem. If you already have a 6570 lying around you could try crossfire but weak igp plus weak dgpu plus will not net you much. I am not even sure your psu is adequate for even such a low power card. If you could upgrade the power supply to something like 250 watts and add a 6670 or 7750 you should be OK for light gaming.

This set up drew 83 watts from an A6 5400 and about 101 watt for A10/A8 systems.
TOMS but interesting.
HD6570 draws about 45 watts for DDR3 version, 60 watts for DDR5.
