I dunno 'bout u guys... but i tend to play better when i'm wearing black socks... yes, i know, it's prob'ly a completely mental thing, but they go well with my black shoes, come up maybe an inch or so off the top of my shoes on my right side (left side i have a black ankle brace... just wondering if i'm the only person that preps for a game or indoor pickup games like this... i have to have my black socks on, wearing my running shoes, a ball, basketball shoes, ankle brace in a duffel, with a wife beater, jersey, sleeveless shirt, and a hoodie on... i just play better when i do that... a mental thing, but how to get over it? ehhh, don't matter... anyone else "prep" before they go play ball?

I just stretch, get a couple shots in, pound my chest a few, jump around, and get in a game.

it takes me a while to get warmed up... (bad joints, i guess...?) and i'm a shooter, so i need to get my shot and form going... every time i just go and jump into a game, i play like sh!t for the first game and a half, almost garaunteed...

I wear mid tops with ankle socks that don't show above the shoe. I feel that I can run and move faster if it looks like i'm not wearing any socks. I wear sleeve less shirts when i play...i also like to do some push ups and a few arm curls to pump my arms. It makes me feel stronger so that i can bang with people in the lane.

cool... u go to wooden a lot? or u pullin' my leg?

Well I always had good experience, before I went on to the court, I stretch my socks as high as I could, it somehow gave me a "good feeling" and I played better when I always had my socks way up 🙂

now that i'm older (24 😱), i play better when i stretch before i play ball.

as far as socks so, i wear short black socks, short white socks, or long white socks that go up to my calfs. whatever i'm in the mood for.

Just pass me the rock...

I don't need prep time.

I was at Arizona Mills a while back and had not picked up a basketball in over 3 years. There was a store that had a half basketball court inside the store. I picked up the ball and nothing from net from the opening. Did this in high school as well.

I only wear black and white for pickup games.

White t-shirt
Black & white AND1 shorts
White low cut ankle socks
Black mid tops

t shirt or nice fitting sweatshirt (sometimes its cold outside - don't have the luxury to play indoors all the time)
shorts (even if its cold)
socks
and any good fitting shoes will do

sweatbands, braces, headbands and the like are really uncomfortable for me...
if i ever wear one it'll be a wrist band or I'll end up "adjusting" for half the game...

Usually go white shoes/ankle socks, but every once in a while I go stealth - black shorts/shoes/socks. I think it gives a little psychological boost.

I learned the importance of warm-up/stretching the hard way. I jumped into a game cold and on the third or fourth trip down the floor, a shot went up and I took a hard step toward the basket for rebounding and felt a pop in the calf I was pushing off of. The next step was met with killer pain that I thought was a cramp. I sat out and tried to release it but it only hurt more. Turns out I tore the calf muscle :Q I was 30. Aging sucks...

dam man 🙁

Guess you will need to stretch next time..........

Yeah I play ball. I just warm up and take some shots. As long as I am wearing suitable clothing I'm set. Warmup then take a few shots. Only thing is that I have to have my decent trainers on.

i wear the sweatshirt before the game even if i'm playing indoors... i haven't played outdoors in like a year and a half, easy.

I wear what's comfortable and doesn't smell too bad. Two pairs of socks at once are a must, or I will blister if I play long enough.

Dang I miss playing ball... haven't been on the court really for almost a year.
