Just make sure you take a couple of good books otherwise you are going to be staring at the back of a toilet door for quite a while.
 
Just go out and walk. I think this is a good way to see the city. Driving out and going to predesignated areas may prevent you from seeing many parts.

I've been to New Delhi a few times but I'm not sure about Delhi. I believe it's an older part.
