Interventional Radiology murse here. Interventional Radiology is one of the newer sub specialties and I enjoy the hell out of it, it's pretty challenging and we scrub in where I work, as well as pre-op, post op and do sedation nursing. The call hours can be pretty miserable, although lucrative, I made $1K just carrying the pager during the last pay period (2 weeks=I was on call 80 hours in addition to the 100 hours I worked).
I've been a murse longer than the average age of most posters and crack 6 figures as a staff nurse in CA, and did so in Texas as well, but I work a ton of OT and call hours...
My first clinical preceptor gave me the best advice, always keep the women nurses laughing, trust me, you don't want 25 work wives pissed off at you
I don't recommend nursing as a profession as a rule, but since you're already doomed, welcome to the club.
If some of you-all are considering it, look into the allied health services like Radiology, the Radiology techs make more $ than nurses at my hospital, Respiratory Therapy is a good choice as well.
Also, I finally slept with a doctor this year, LOL...
