Just wondering. I'm currently in a RN program and so far...it's kicking my butt and tons of time invested on the books. Haven't touch my gaming rig for 2 months :*(

Gonna be a Murse (male nurse) in a couple of years

ER Murse checking in.

Don't fret man your gaming time will suffer for a while, but once you graduate and only work 3 x 12 hour shifts a week...it will get better.

And as far as starting wage, it just depends on where you live. First year out of school I made about 54K. 4 years on and I'll make about 62K this year. Few more years and I'll be pushing 80K no problem, max pay at my hospital has you just under 6 figures if you don't do OT.

Interventional Radiology murse here. Interventional Radiology is one of the newer sub specialties and I enjoy the hell out of it, it's pretty challenging and we scrub in where I work, as well as pre-op, post op and do sedation nursing. The call hours can be pretty miserable, although lucrative, I made $1K just carrying the pager during the last pay period (2 weeks=I was on call 80 hours in addition to the 100 hours I worked).

I've been a murse longer than the average age of most posters and crack 6 figures as a staff nurse in CA, and did so in Texas as well, but I work a ton of OT and call hours...

My first clinical preceptor gave me the best advice, always keep the women nurses laughing, trust me, you don't want 25 work wives pissed off at you :)

I don't recommend nursing as a profession as a rule, but since you're already doomed, welcome to the club.

If some of you-all are considering it, look into the allied health services like Radiology, the Radiology techs make more $ than nurses at my hospital, Respiratory Therapy is a good choice as well.

Also, I finally slept with a doctor this year, LOL...
