Any Athlon 64 compatible boards out there that allow you to lock AGP/PCI?

For overclocking purposes obviously 😉

had lots of problem with recent machine running 875P and P4...locked AGP/PCI and problem solved. Therefore, I want to make sure I can have that option in the Athlon board as well.

anyone?

Yes, which IMHO is why the A64 has not "taken off" already like the AthlonXP/XP Barton did. Not enough NF3 boards out there.

That said, the NF3 150 chipset which is out right now is not "all that", either. 🙁

Allegedly, the NF3 250 is on the way. That is what I am waiting for. Let's go, NVidia! Get with the program and do right by the enthusiasts that made your NForce2 THE chipset for an AMD CPU.

I agree. The nForce is the best for K7 series but currently VIA dominated the K8 market. However I personally want to see a PCI-Express nForce chipset more wide spread before I move to a K8 chip.

when you guys say nforce shipsets are no good...do you guys mean they're slow? can't overclock well? or what?

Also, with the new P4's coming out...is it worth the upgrade to A64 now, or just wait for those P4's?

The K8 nForce chipsets arn't the greatest. However for K7s they are the opposite of everything you said above and are the best you can get. 🙂

Nforce3 150 has a 600 max HTT bus, so it cripples the speed. I went VIA, since even without AGP lock I can get a decent OC (2170) and I get full HTT speed. When the new Nforce3 250 comes out, if it runs 1000 (the new HTT speed) and has a lock, I will get it for my next Athlon64 box. For now I couldn't be much happier. (AGP/PCI lock is the only thing I am missing for max OC'ing)

How long until we see Nforce 3 250 boards become mainstream?

This is the main reason why I haven't picked up an A64 yet, also because the A64 3000 has gone from $204 to a whopping $229 now🙁 (must be a hot seller on newegg).

ya, I didn't know about AGP/PCI locking until late last year and as soon as I did, my new P4 pc ran like a champ!

I just want the same feature for A64, but it seems like I will have to wait, or go with P4. Either way, my ultimate goal is to see this thing perform in XP 64bit version...just to see if the performance is worth the risk.
