Kind of curious. I picked one of these little consoles up a few weeks back for $99 and I've had alot of fun with it thus far! Games like Virtua Tennis, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, NFL2K1, Sega GT and Ready 2 Rumble have stolen alot of my PC playing time.

When Tribes 2 comes out, of course, that will all change though! ;)

I should say though, lets not turn this into a debate, we all know both platforms have pluses and minuses, so lets stay away from the childish inciteful remarks about consoles shall we? There, I knew we were grown up and comfortable enough with ourselves to not do so (I say this, but I promise you, some lame kid PC gamer will STILL popoff some childish remarks about consoles... you watch and see!). I am playing and enjoying both very much... I play GAMES, not SYSTEMS.

Anyhow... anyone here have this system? I'm really impressed with NFL2K1's online play! Considering it's done over a 56k modem that only connects at 31200 on my old country crappy phone line, it is AMAZING! I really play lag free (or at least, I percieve no lag). In all honesty, it does as well or better than my 128k ISDN line does with my PC games. How'd SEGA do that? Why can't PC developers use those same techniques to deliver a lag free experience?

Also, what games are you all playing, what games are good... what games are coming out that have you excited? I seen something about an online RPG called Phantasy Star Online that looked like it had some of that magic that Everquest has. I'm keeping my eye on it.

I see PC games and console games as 2 different types of games. I don't even compare them.

anyways, I just got the dreamcast on that $62 w/2 games JC penney deal. All I have to say is... get Ultimate Fighting Championship. It is by far the BEST fighting game I've ever played. It takes a bit of learning, but the graphics and gameplay are amazing.

if i wanted to get a console, would dreamcast be a best bet or should i wait for a cube/dolphin, ps2, or xbox?

the hype about nfl2k1 is killing me. i wonder is it the same for nhl, nba, or soccer (i dont know... do they already have good ones out?)

SSP, No... I won't "relax". I'm trying to keep this thread clean, and comments like that start flamewars, joking or not. (note the absence of any smileys in my posts).

youseelabruin, I'd say get a Dreamcast now, and later you can decide if it's worth getting the others when you get to see and hear more about it. Dreamcast is relatively cheap, and the online play is so smooooooth (if that's what your into). Also, belive the hype... NFL2K1 is really all that! It's a great game. In fact, there are lots of great games on the Dreamcast (literally over 100 now), and a whole lot coming down the pike (100 + more coming this year).

I say buy!

The Dreamcast ROCKS!

And yes, NLF2k1 is awesome.

(But Chad, I think you knew I'd say that. ;) )

Dreamcast is definately a great system. I've had it since it launched and I couldn't be happier. Crazy Taxi, VOOT, HOTD2, and Sonic are some of my favorite games ever. I am gonna get a PS2 (free though) and I think that everyone should own every system if they can afford it.

dang.. i can just feel the credit card sneaking out of its slot in my wallet. i am hesitant because i bought a playstation a while back just to play GT. i only played on that console like 10 times. lets just say it has been borrowed more then i have had it.

i like the EA's NHL2001 type game. loads up fast and game play is nice and quick. psx took so long to boot, load, and play.

is dreamcast the way? until the nextbest thing comes along (and when will that be?).

how much does it go for and what about the games? and how much is sega.net? thanks.

Crazy Taxi is one of the best games, pc or console, ever released, and has the best game soundtrack ever. Period.

Right now, I belive you should buy the Dreamcast, it has great game backing right now, which is why the Saturn failed. Plus it's the first next-gen console to come out, the first ones always do best. I know the XBox will be able to out perform all the systems graphically, but what kind of game support does it have, that I don't know. Besides that's a Microsoft product, and a lot of people don't like Microsoft. The Dolphin looks good, but it's game support isn't as good as Nintendo had hopped, but just because it's Nintendo it should turn out good anyway. The PSX2 is a good system, but again the support isn't as good as the Dreamcast was when it came out. This time Sega was smart, they weren't going to make the same mistake twice. Many people will buy the PSX2, just because they don't like Sega, and it's also backwards compatible. However, if you really like sports and fighting games I really recomend the Dreamcast. If you like RPG, the PSX2 is probably better, but I do understand the Dreamcast is makeing a few RPGs as well. In my final opinion the Dreamcast is better.
