I was just wondering if anybody here at AT played tennis, if so for how long? Type of raquet? Preference of court type? Anything you would like to share about tennis is welcome. I myself have been playing for about 3.5 years, use the Prince Diablo XP midplus with Wilson synthetic gut, and i love clay over anything else. Oh and my style of play is serve+volley, but i do often play at baseline because im a very hard hitter :)

P.S- HOW DID FEDERER LOSE TO NADAL!!!! HE WASNT HIMSELF THAT GAME!!!!

Edit:I also hit a one handed backhand, but dont be intimidated.

I'm a teaching pro. I have been playing for 10 years. I play with a Fischer Pro 1. I prefer a hard, slightly fast surface. I'm a 4.5-5.0 player. All-court player, althought I dont play but maybe a set a week, as I teach 10-20+ hours a week.

Um hi.

Been playing for... a couple years... But didn't actually attempt to try harder for competition until like about 2 years ago. I just use the regular courts you find at parks... (composite?). Going for HS Varsity.

I use a Dunlop Hotmelt 200G 95'' strung 61/57 with Klip Excellerator 17g w/ Wilson Enduro Tour 18g. (main/crosses)

My serves are seriously crap. But my groundstrokes are good.

Which is why I'm trying to trade my racket for a Head LiquidMetal Radical MP (I didn't like Flexpoint at all).

I've been playing for 10 years, and currently I'm using Prince MORE Precision raquets. I forget what strings I currently have on them, but they are some hybrid, my cross strings are one type, and the verticals are different. I'm defintily a hard court type of guy with a baseline game.

Ricemarine, for your serve you should sign up for a local tennis club, that way you can have access to more balls and just practice, practice, practice! Thats how i got good at my serves, i had problems with the correct technique at first but i just took like 5 lessons and got it down. People who have good serves take the time to work on their serves an hr or two a day, just take a basket or hopper and just keep serving, correct yourself when needed. Im in high school now, a good serve can help you land a better spot on the team.

That's what I'm planning to do over the summer...

Taking 2 tennis camps...

$425 right there... $200 + $225... 15 hours + 20 hours.

Hoping to improve.

I just came back from 2-1/2 hours of tennis tonight...Probably playing for nearly 20 years. I use a couple of Yonex RD 7 Power Long's that I string myself on my Klippermate stringer. Usually - 17 ga. synthetic gut. I prefer hard courts but also like playing on clay. Semi-Western forehand, 2-handed backhand, big-first serve on days when the shoulder isn't aching. Never been NTRP Rated. Most of the time I play against friends that are 4.0 to 4.5. I did manage to take a set from a guy that plays NCAA Division III tennis. I don't think I'm that good. Style of play is baseliner.

Nadal beat Federer because he exposed his weakness...high topspin shots to his backhand.

I know thats why Nadal beat him :) I was just kidding. But federer came in very strong, but after nadal broke him the second set, he started playing very cautious and not trying to outwit his opponent very much until the last few sets. He was missing volleys and even occasionaly forehands! Feds backhand is weak sometimes but that doesnt excuse those lousy hits that were extremely far off court. Im not going to say that nadal isnt good, but he isnt great, hes just very fast, slides with accuracy, capable of returning impossible shots and hits with very hard topspin. I dont see him being #1 anytime soon, nor ever in that matter, if he ever was crowned the world #1 he surely wouldnt keep his title very long, other players would soon snatch the title on other surfaces. Fed is an all around player, i think he needs to get rid Tony Roche and work with another coach, in my mind Tony needs to work on more strategy, then technique like others have mentioned, at least if fed wants any chance at beating nadal on clay again.

I just play casually now. My serves are crap, but volleys and half-volleys are fun. Net games are awesome.

Big tennis player and fan here. I'm a 4.5-5.0 player in USTA leagues, though I'm rusty from a few extended layoffs from the game. I'm an all-court player but my strengths are in my forehand and serve. Gone through a number of sticks but currently hitting with Dunlop 300Gs.

From what I've heard the 300G (regular/hotmelt) is apaprently unstable... What is your opinion on the racket? Did you use lead tape?

Much prefer the feel of the older prostaff series, but a friend was quitting tennis and just gave me his set so I've been giving them a shot. It's true that its not the most stable racquet for baselining, but it's not bad - and it's still pretty versatile and powerful. It's a great platform for customization from what I'm hearing so I'm planning on going the lead tape route. I just haven't been hitting enough lately to experiment with it.

I think my next racket will be a pure drive team, after the new models come out. Im suprisingly starting to like the feel of fischers now as well Tecnifibre, i demoed a new gamma raquet the other day(Ipex 7.0 i believe)and it was very on point in accuracy, but i dunno im probably going to get a new racket in the next month or so.

Ive been playing for about 25 years...use a Head liquid metal racquet( actually have 4 of them) I have them strung about max tension as I am a power hitter.

Nadal just played better than Federer...he couldnt lose
