Any Amature Telescope Builders?

I've been considering building an 8-10" Dobsonian, anyone built their own telescope?

I've heard that a friend of a friend does. I, personally, have no experience. It'd be cool, tho.

If you go to your local library (I know I know...you ahve the internet too), there are several very good books on how to build an entire telescope from scratch--including the mirror. Dobs are great for deep sky observations.
I was planning on buliding a telescope from scratch including the mirror, but I was occupied, this was several years ago, when I was like 12. Sure, you can buy really good dobs already put together from Orion, but the experience from building it is well worth it.
