Geez, do you guys ever sleep? This ain't in the Matrix, right?(Just checking)

Thanks very much for all the thoughts...

Guess will get new AS and remount the HSF for the final desperate shot... before new year comes in...

Actually the plastic nuts can never be tighten for sure, that's a real headache...

FlowerMan, what I meant is that unless the reading is directly from diodes built in the core, the number is off a little... only if the offset is known to be fixed, that'd help... oh well
Yeah, the heater is on

BTW, SinnerWolf mentioned SVC, that brought back memory - actually it costed me about 40$, I had two GoldenGate along in that order, forgot the 2nd GG:eek:

<< The 8045 could be bumping up against some capacitors on the motherboard, preventing good seating. Some people have destroyed CPUs because they didn't notice this. My mobo, the Epox 8KHA+, has that problem. You have to file away a section of the 8045's base to prevent contact with a capacitor. If I hadn't noticed that the heatsink could have come down tilted on the CPU, resulting in poor cooling or no cooling or a crushed core. >>

I had to do no such thing on my 8KHA+. My idle temps with the YS tech fan I orginally had on it were 34-35c

Even after a good deal of filing my 8045 still barely fits past that one capacitor. Without filing I couldn't have used the 8045.

My best suggestion is to get the screws started, then carefully hold the MoBo veritcally and use your
fingertip to hold the nut. It will be very apparent when the standoff bottoms out and the nut wants
to start spinning. (It's not a gradual increase in pressure, it is abrupt). You should never need to
apply much torque with your driver to install this heatsink.

hope that helps....
