Unfortunately, AM4 APUs do not support ECC. I found that out after I bought a 2200G, hoping it I could use it to make a file server, but it doesn't work. Something to do with not enough pins on AM4 for both a GPU and ECC.

https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/amd/athlon/200ge confirms that AMD Athlon 200GE doesn't support ECC.
https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/amd/ryzen_3/2200g and https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/amd/ryzen_5/1400 support ECC.

https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/amd/ryzen_3/2200g says
This model supports a configurable TDP-down of 45 W.
Alpine AM4 Passive can handle 47W.
I'm not going to utilize the GPU of 2200g, so I can either turn it off entirely or just use serial console for debugging the machine.

PSU fans are not going to run. Only the case fans are going to run, and these fans should be enough to cool down Alpine AM4 Passive and HDDs.
Fractal Design NODE 304 is known for quiet case fans. It's going to be suitable as a NAS in my room where I sleep.

Over on eBay you can buy used Ryzen Pro 2200 and 2400GE Chips with ECC Support

GE means integrated graphics and energy saver.

Don't ask me. Ask AMD and AsRock :)
I got into this with them several months ago. To me it is worth the extra $20 to $30 to have ECC stated by the chip maker and board maker.
