Hi guys,
I'll be honest: I'm not much of a tech whizz myself, so I'd really appreciate your advice on this. A friend of mine and I have recently set up a business in catering. It's going well, but we'd like to improve our online presence. We've set up some accounts on social media sites, but we'd like to have a professional website that our customers can refer to. Do you have any advice which provider to use? My business associate suggested using this one http://website.1and1.com/free-website-builder, but I'd like to shop around a bit before settling on one. Do you have any experience with this kind of matter, or do you have any alternative suggestions? Thanks for your help!

unless you are doing payment processing or something, i would strongly recommend to stick with instagram/facebook/whatever is mainstream

Write a 12 page blog post putting AT Highly Technical on trial. Make a sock-puppet account on any forum you can find and post the link. Profit.

I host with Madgenuis, speak to ViviTheMage for a great discount! As for a website, for easy management and creation, look into wordpress templates.

This is a good point. Getting a presence in social media is important, and keeping a very basic website (the Wordpress suggestion is good) unless you need payment processing.

I have used Host Gator in the past for very little money and no issues, but was not any high-traffic site either. Just a few bucks per month.

Thanks for the plug Cal!

Stick with an easy to use wordpress design, lots of themes to toy with. Or if you're with us, we have a built in SiteBuilder app that builds off of themes pretty easily.

Once done, you can always add plugs to your social media content as well.

So am I the only one that thinks the OP is just spamming for the host he links to?

Thanks for your advice, guys. Will definitely take a look at the suggestions you've made. At the moment the website is just intended to be a point of reference/information for our customers, but that might change in the future, depending on how our business evolves. So ideally, the provider would be easy to use and navigate without much programming/coding knowledge for the beginning, but also have the potential to develop more advanced services.

What is a good host if you want to prepare for relatively high traffic and payment processing?
