You're right, I just don't like the 'kill anything that moves' reaction to insects. A lot of basement dwellers in ATOT forget that neither they or anyone else could live without insects.

I didn't want to, TBH but they were in a main portion of my back yard. If they were in the front I could have ignored them.

Helpful until his daughter is playing in the backyard and her ball accidentally disturbs them and she has to get taken to the ER.

I would nuke that from orbit if it was near places where I spend time outdoors, as surely as I would slay something like this:

J E S U S!!! If I saw that shit on my ceiling I'd leave the house in my boxer shorts if that's all I had on and never come back. THE FUCK IS THAT!!!

Been there, done that. 20-25 foot head start is insufficient if they decide to come after you. First time I used that method, I went running down the street screaming like a little girl. Now, I get out the starter fluid (ethyl ether). 20 foot flame thrower instead. Only problem is, I've set a couple trees on fire & you definitely don't want to use it on a house.

It's important, too, to remember to stand UPWIND while spraying any of that stuff!! ;)

Wasp & hornet spray is pretty flammable for a while after you spray the nest. Had a big old nest on a sign post I was going to cut off with a torch one time. Lucky for me, my co-worker spotted the nest before I preheated it! We went and got some spray, drove up to the sign, cracked the window far enough to shoot the spray out, and quickly rolled up the window and waited for them to die.
After they were all kaput, I hit the nest with the lit torch.......went up fast!! :awe:

We came home a week or so ago and one of our dogs looked like a Shar-Pei all swollen because she probably got stung and is presumably allergic.

What does this mean? I have a shar-pei and it does not look swollen or anything.

No need to buy anything if you have a fertilizer spreader attachment for your graden hose. Fill it up with dish soap, and then spray it onto the nest - as someone said, it's best to wait until dusk when they start to settle in for the night. Your results may vary, but mine went like this:

Ehhh ... just man up and knock the nests down with a stick. Do it during the day since visibillity is better.
One by one, knock the nest down, once the nest is on the ground, and they come after you, run inside.... after a couple of hours ... repeat the process....

May take a few tries ... but eventually they'll move on.
