Well, first of all, I play with almost max sensitivity , but I don't actually have an optical mouse.

The one I tried was sitting out at Best Buy, and I wiggled it around pretty (alright REALLY) quickly, and it skipped A LOT. But that's probably a pretty lousy way to rate all optical mice so... I'm sorry. I didn't realize optical mice had such a following, so maybe I'll try one out. Heck, if it doesn't work out, I can always take it back and tell them it skips. (Cause that's the only reason I'd return it, I think).

Thanks a lot guys. BTW, do you know if which generation of optical mice we're into and if there's a "next generation" slated for release anytime soon?

Now while it is undisputably true that Logitech is the premier pointing device manufacturer, perhaps you should consider the pointing device of choice for power users, the Logitech Trackman. I personally have used various models of the Trackman for over 12 years and can tell you that there is no better pointing device available. As for mice, I just can't see why an inteligent person would put up with the constant aggrevation of recentering a mouse, dealing with its cord and all the other mouse related problems. Face it mice are for Mac users and other dumbies! The PC should be operated with a trackball, preferably a Trackman. The thumb is more dexterious than any other appendege, providing for more accurate control. Furthermore, with the Trackman your hand lays on the device in a natural position, the thumb and finger are constantly in the correct position, requiring only slight movement inorder to point or operate the device. Using a mouse requires you to divert your attention to the device, drawing it away from where it belong, on the sceen. Of course, such behavior may result in your being shuned by "normal people".

trackball is great... but if you play FPS mouse is a better choice. i use trackball for autocad. but trackball does suit poeple with carpal tunnel syndrome problem.

Microsoft Intellimouse optical. Thats the way to go. Logitech wheelman optical is not a bad second choice. Great for gaming and for surfing (with the extra back/forward buttons on the msoft).
