Any advantages of Ram Heatsinks for GF2 GTS?

Are there any advantages to putting heatsinks on the ram? I already can clock to 370 and 215 core. Should I see any performance gain? How about stability, I mean can It run at a higher bus speed? Has there been an quantified testing? Sorry for all the questions But I just don't know what to expect by putting them one except possible extending the life.

Thanks,
Clinth

A simple answer: No.

The ram doesn't heat up all that much and the ramsinks on there hardly do anything. When overclocking you would notice very little, if any, increase in memory clock. There wouldn't be a performance gain if you kept the clock the same but just added ramsinks.

Eagle is right. No difference. I have heta sinks on mine and they didn't do anything to overclock memory any higher (running at 393).

Thanks for the answers.

I was thinking about adding some HS to the RAM on my Leadtek GTS, but not now. Because of the HUGE HS and fan that Leadtek has on the core, the front ram chips are blocked. I really did not want to take the factory HS/fan off because I get 230 on the core, but only get a O/C of 370 with the memory.

So adding HS on the RAM will probably not help me increase the memory overclock much if any?

I don't doubt that they would help, but it is very situation. Don't forget that you see ramsinks on high clocked ram of GF Pro's and Ultra's.

But if your ram has hit its maxium overclockability, ramsinks are not going to change that.

I'm not sure If I hit the upper limit of my ram but if I go much high then 370 the card locks up. My computer seems to be fine, I mean I can ctrl/alt/delt to a reboot, my mouse is fine ect.. and I don't see any artifacts before it freeze. So I thought heat could be the problem. But see now its probable not the ram getting to hot.

Thanks for all the input

i wish the post was up a few weeks ago, that's when i ordered my ram heatsinks for my 64mb ASUS V7700. i put a blue orb on it and ran it at 230/400 for a while this is what it's at now and it's perfectly stable and i can't see any artifacts at all, i'm very happy with the blue orb, it lowerwed the temp a few degrees c's. i then installed the 8 heatsinks on the ram, i then tried to clock the memory 5 more with no joy, so now it's running at 230/400 not bad for AUS$50. this is what happens when you read killer modifying guides at places like v/hideout.

Ramsinks will get rid of visual effects of ovewrclocking therefore allowing higher overclock!
I had no sinks and could go up to 395 memory but had artifacts and had to settle with 385 with the ramsinks i can go to 395 with no artifacts at all.
I think that while ram chips may have a upper border and yours may be 370 what they will do is stabalize the ram when overclocking as i have explained.
Many others on overclockers database report the same.
