Any advantage to flashing 9700tx->9700pro rather than o/c ing it?

I also want to know where you got it! Doom 3 fever has me but not bad enough to pay $300-$400 for a video card ;).

make sure your ram will take pro speeds before you do it though otherwise if it doesn't take I sure hope you have a PCI card laying around as a backup just in case

I'll make sure of the ram before i do it. What if i can't o/c it to pro speeds? i am like 10mhz lower? Is it ok to flash and then underclock the ram a bit? Or mabye with the better mem timings it will be able to run that rate. I have a vga scilencer on the core, ramsinks on 3 of the top 4 ram chips (other one is blocked by the mobo ram... stupid dell) And i have ram sinks coming to fit underneith the vga scilencer. If i back up my vid bios correctly and everything will i still need a pci card if it is unsuccessful?

yes because if your ram won't take pro speeds you won't be able to see anything when you boot up and you'll need a pci card to get to the program to reflash your card

If i'm not mistaken, most 9700tx's had crappy 3.3ns infineon, which without heatsinks craps out at about 297MHz, well below 310MHz that a PRO bios will try by default to run it at. In other words, you will have corruption after the bios flash.

i plan to put heatsinks on the ram.

To CMV: I bought it on the fs/ft fourms. After O/C'ing JUST the core (370core 263mem-at stock) I could play doom 3 at medium detail on 1024x768 no problem. The game just got too repetitive for me so i switched back to far cry and max payne 2.

A 9700np with good ram or even a 9700pro would serv you quite well i belive.

To the guy who pmed me asking about how i overclocked it:

You have your pm's disabled so i wasnt' able to answer it. So i will here. I used the omega drivers (omegadrivers.net i belive) and used the radlinker tool inside of them. Be sure to run driver cleaner to get rid of your catalyst drivers completely.
