Any 7900GT users having monitor signal problems?

I suppose it was bound to happen with how many cards I try out. I popped in the new 7900GT, and while the computer still boots straight to Windows, I cannot get a signal on my monitor; it just remains blank. I've tried reseating it in the PCI-E slot, tried a different PCI-E slot, and tried 3 different DVI>VGA dongles and nothing has worked.

This is an eVGA 7900GT CO, by the way.

Just got my BFG 7900gt today and hooked it up. No issues on my end. Maybe you
got the unlucky one of the litter.

I got a new BFG 7900GT from Newegg yesterday and noticed that one of the capacitors was broken off and rolling around in the box. BFG was not able to cross ship a new card to me so I am RMA'n the card back to Newegg. The scary thing is it looks like several other people have had a similar experience with Newegg and this card. I hope they ship me back a good one!

Needless to say I didn't even try the card since it was missing a cap. I wonder if yours is missing one as well?

XFX 7900GT Extreme here and so far no problems. I did notice that the 84.20 drivers are a little buggy on my system - it conflicts with my Netgear SC101 and for some reason 3DMark06 won't run. No other problems to report yet.

Probably not. It has whatever bios it came with a year ago. How do I get new bios?

I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with my computer considering I've had 5~ different high end PCI-E cards in this system over the last year. In any case, everything is up to date including my bios, and resetting it didn't help either.

I suppose this is for the best, as I've RMA'd it to Newegg and since they won't have any in stock, they will give me a full refund and I will hopefully live happily with my 1800XT.

I have an evga 7900gt co and i have no problems. Can you try the card in another machine. And Try giving their customer support a call. Even if they can't help, it will get the rma process started.

bad card... but usually you should get a beep code halt...

I had the same problem as you with my EVGA7900 Superclocked. Did you hook it up to your PSU using a 6pin connector? or did you use the included 4pin Y adapter? The card would not display an image using the 6pin connector from my PSU. The computer would boot and the drives work run, but the screen would be blank. I think used the 4pin Y adapter and hooked it up to my PSU that way. Then the card worked fine. I beleve this is a power issue for the card.

I RMA'd my eVga 7900 GT Superclocked. The eVGA 7900 GTX that replaced it is working exactly like it is supposed to. I think there are a lot of bad eVGA 7900 GTs out there, since it is the only card I have seen so many complaints about.

I think it is pretty obvious that my eVGA 7900 GT Superclocked was just a dud, since eVGA 7900 GTX runs perfectly in the exact same system.

meson2000, that's cool that you found a way to make yours work. But, you shouldn't have had to do that. Installing video cards is usually a very simple procedure, and the eVGA 7900 GT seems to be giving people the most problems.

I have the same problem. So much for going through the whole step-up cycle and having the computer down for so long. I am very p****d.
I can't even try what meson said cos I would need a 4-pin cable extension. I will try it after getting the extension today. Hope this works. If that doesn't what are my options?
