Any 30+ year olds still live with mom and dad?

Why are all these people who aren't 30+ and living with their parents posting? The OP didn't ask you whether you moved out at 18 and 19, he and nobody else cares.

Interestingly enough, your post didn't answer the OP either.

If so do you live in the basement or attic?

😀

Upstairs. 🙂

I moved out at 25 the first time. I started paying rent at 19. My mother was legally blind when I was 15 and had a spinal stroke that left her partially paralyzed from the waist down when I was 22, so it did help to have someone around to drive her places. I moved to another city for a job, so she had it rough for a while. I then moved back for another job at 30 and decided it was better to pay her rent than some stranger (plus it was cheaper). I now own the house and she pays me rent when she can. Let me tell you that I do not know how people manage to survive on what the government provides for the disabled.

I have never had the horrors of nasty roommates because of this. So, while the youngsters cannot wait to get out of the house, it really isn't that bad if you have decent parents.

My family and I moved back in with my Dad after my Mom passed away last October. It's the best thing we could have done for my Dad. He was a wreck. We were in the middle of planning the building of our own house (all we needed was a lot) but put that on indefinite hold. It's not that bad though. The house is over 3500sq ft not including garages/full basement.

Now we are looking at buying 5-6 acres and building our own 'family neighborhood' for my Dad, Sister, and I (and our families of course)

now that's a good son and daughter-in-law.

Thanks! I didn't have to think about it. It was just automatic. I would think that just about anybody would do the same for their parents.

Oh yeah....just to clarify: I pay half of ALL bills (including house payment) and ALL food bills.

I have the entire upstairs BTW 🙂

I love how anyone over 18 justifies living at home (cheaper rent, keep mom company, help dad with projects, free laundry). Aside from horrendous medical problems, all BS excuses in my opinion.

People values differ. I guess you don't value your parents much.

Yes, because having a family is such a terrible thing.

I am 35 and I lived with my parents all the way up until they died, which happened a year ago for my dad and two years ago for my mom. I am a social person, but can't seem to put up with most peoples crap. At least with my parents I knew where I stood. I was also ill for about the last 10 years. My parents were also ill befor they passed. We helped each other out most of the time. Most of the people I have come across are fair weather friends and not very supportive when it comes down to it. Maybe one day I will find a woman that will have the caring attributes that I am seeking, but I doubt it. Most people are looking for something easy. Life isn't always that way. To be honest, for some people it is seldom that way.
