Any 1911 Love?

Unheard

Picked this one up last week. A Sig Sauer 1911 Scorpion. Shoots great, but is going to break me on ammo costs. My next pistol is going to be a Sig P238 Scorpion, keeping it in the family.

Uh, yeah... there's been plenty of 1911 love around here

Also, not sure what OverVolt is saying... 45 is relatively pricey. Out of my 8 guns it's the 2nd most expensive, only losing out to the 30-06 which is nearly $1/round if you buy single boxes.

Sig 1911's get a lot of hate due to not being traditional in the slide but they are great guns. Nice score.

Beat this: My Colt 1911 from my great uncle, serial number 30k. Made in 1913 and has all original parts and most all of the bluing on it, but the inside of the barrel doesn't look so hot. It cycles nicely but I can't field strip it because the barrel link won't swivel out of the way... it needs to go to a gunsmith I think. I will take better pics of it one of these days.

This thing feels amazing in the hand.

I love this thing too much to shoot. Do you guys have a recommendation for a $500-$600 1911 that shoots decently?

Mine was under $600 and is a Para Ordnance brand. Though I did get in on a pretty good deal at my local gun shop so YMMV. My buddy got a compact Rock Island Armory one and it shoots very well, and those seem to also fall into your price range.

Holy shit that thing is awesome! And original un worn grips! Love it, nice!!!!

I've got a (deactivated) ogden rebuild 1911A1 from 1914.

There are some really nice 1911's posted in this thread. Here are mine.

The Colt I've owned for almost 20 years and all the custom work was done by King's Gun Works in Glendale. It's a nice little shooter.

Oh, and Wilson Magazines for both. I'll never use any other magazine. Highly recommended for any 1911 style gun.

I love those grips - just like the very original design 100 years ago. The grips on mine (walnut?) are very slightly worn from handling and they feel amazing. When I get a 1911 that's the first thing I'm going to get.

I've always wanted to checker the front strap on the Officer's Model but christ is it expensive.

Those grips used to be very common at guns shows. Not sure if they still are though. Seems to be mostly AR stuff, holsters, and cheap scopes these days.

It's double action single action, although they do have double action only models. That first trigger pull is like a cheap revolver.
