What do software do you use and why?

Software: I'm running Mcafee 8.0.
Reason: Brand name.

Personal experience:
Small network between a few friends got infected with a virus. I had McAfee, others had Norton. Norton identified and quarantined the virus; McAfee wasn't aware of it.
I'm using Norton now.

Avast because I like free and only like to manually scan files anyway. I don't need something running constantly.
AVG is another popular free antivirus program.

MailDefense for email scanning only.
NAV for everything else.
I started out using NAV 2000 & it worked very well & i haven't had the problems that others report(conflicts with other apps & system slowdown).
Just bought NAV 2004 & it's working great.
I got MailDefense when it was still free & i'm still using that version.

So far i've never been infected.
I have had people send me infected email that were using McAfee but i suspect that was probably user error.

i use NAV because it's very effective.. but i'm actually looking for another one. NAV is extremely bloated and very very slow (i've got a decently fast computer too.. athlon 2500+ 512mb etc). i want to have one as good as NAV in terms of effectiveness, but one that doesn't take literally a minute to start up, y'know??
