antivirus scan

I seem to be infected, tons of pop up ads. I tried the usual one, Norton, bitdefender, AV Scan. None of them found anything can someone recommend one for me to try?

Malwarebytes. www.malwarebytes.org

Download the free version, don't bother enabling the trial version.

Once installed, click on 'Scans' at the top of the window, click 'custom scan', then 'scan', then tick 'scan for rootkits', tick your boot drive, and start the scan.

Which browser are you using? Does it occur with all browsers? Does it occur if you set up another Windows user as a test and browse with that user?

If Malwarebytes self-protection feature isn't enabled there's a lot of malware capable of disabling it, even though it otherwise appears to be scanning normally. I'd suggest you first run BleepingComputers's Combofix. If running Combofix follwed by another Malwarebytes scan doesn't take care of it , then you'll probably need to run a bootable AV utility such as Kaspersky's Rescue 10 disk.

Very good idea, HOWEVER do not run Combofix if your running Windows 8/8.1!!!!

You can download and run Superantispyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

Just download the free version.

Are these only in the web browser? You might be better off just making a new profile and deleting your old one.

Then you can start looking in msconfig for rouge applications that are launching at startup.

Thanks Dave, I did a restore to before the problem then chrome found minmemory was added and it suggested to stop running it. Both chrome & ie seem fine now. I'll try your suggestion tonight
