I am at my wits end here. Any help would be appreciated.

Every 3 min or so I get an error that says: Norton has encountered an internal an internal program error. Please uninstall and reinstall Norton.

The problem is that I have done that 3 times. Any suggestions???

1) Did it formerly work and just lately begin to not work? Or has it never worked right?

2) Does it have a current virus-definition update subscription, or did it expire?

I was checking at Symantec's site and this could help, click this link:

Update: ooops, looks like they use sessions. Paste your error message into the box on this page: http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/home_h...cts/nav/nav_2005/index.html?src=hho_us

See how the different links end with a number like 3003,111 or so on? They're saying that the error box will have such a number on the corner of it. So when it appears again, find the error number among the three pages of results there, and then try their solution. They've got an AutoFix Tool thing that may help.

Note that the AutoFix Tool is ActiveX-based, so use Internet Explorer to run it. Hope that helps! :)

If you're not using Internet Explorer, that could account for it.

If there's a possibility that your system got attacked by viruses, you could try this manual scanner I wrote up how to use: http://www.omnicast.net/~tmcfadden/scan.txt I don't know if it works on Win98 or not, but you could always try. For Win98, you'd use straight Safe Mode to run the scan, and it's the F5 key to keep hitting as Win98 begins to boot, rather than F8.

I think it's a Virus man. I had this same problem and had to use hijackthis to fix the problem. I wish I could be more help but the Norton Virus Removal Dept Walked me through it (For $75.00 which SUcked)...and Ya it's hard to communicate with them.

Try this site www.tomcoyote.org

They give pretty detailed instructions on using programs Like hijackthis and other Virus Removal Tools.

GL.....Hopefully its just something simple

BTW anyone have any suggestions on good software or hardware firewalls?
