antivirus for win 7.

MSE uses more memory, and I had some problems with it. Crashing Explorer is what finally made me uninstall. Avira seems to have better detection rates, but with more false positives as a result. My decision to stick with Avira boiled down to it being a proven product. MSE is still new, and I'd like to see other people run it for awhile before I really decide to switch. MSE is more idiot proof, and it may be a better choice as a free A/V for noobier computer users.

Ah. I'm new to using it in W7, but in XP the only false positives I'd get are the shady sort of things, you know, piracy related. Otherwise it'd work flawlessly. So I guess I'm sticking with it, OP, you should too.

I've had good luck with MSE. On rare occasion there will be a computer slowdown, but for the most part it has worked great on the ~10 machines I've installed it on.

I have tried AVG, Avast, Microsoft Security Essentials. My vote goes to MSE. It seem to interfere less with my applications, it's small and fast.
