Using McAfee for AV and Kerio for FW. Both free from my school

kaspersky av is good, so is avast av. zone alarm is decent, but can be taken down fairly quickly. Im not a fan of firewalls on my personal box anymore, slows the internet down too much.

Newuser if you want a free combo then Zone Alarm, as you mentioned, coupled with AVG is a pretty good solution and easy on the wallet.

I use the older version of Kerio Personal Firewall (v2.15 I think) and it works great while consuming minimal system resources.

I use Trend Micro's online housecall for AV.

and I use Sygate firewall on any system that requires one.

(home systems, not work)

If you want something free, go with AVG + ZoneAlarm, or avast! + Sygate, or any combo of such.

If you want to pay for something, you should give Eset NOD32 a try.
