See, the extreme right and the extreme left do have common ground.

They are just asking for trouble, especially now that they have put their names on the website. Also after reading the following, "Many tax resisters like the Makarewiczs calculate the money they owe the government and then donate it to charity instead", don't you think that they should calculate their taxes, find out what % of all taxes is spent on military and just withhold that amount? Don't they realize they are withholding taxes from other programs other than military......dang there I go thinking again

Eleanor Bonney Simons, 83, of St. Johnsbury, hasn't paid federal income taxes or the federal tax portion of her telephone bills in a decade, and said she always makes sure to give away enough money each year that she doesn't have any tax liability.

"I find I can live very well this way," Simons said. "It makes me feel good to know I'm not supporting the war effort."
That possible?

I'm not sure what the fuss is about. They legitimately contribute to charitable organizations enough to allow their itemized and standard deductions to be equal to that of their AGI, which eliminates any need to pay taxes. Just a loophole that they have taken advantage of. I do see the issue that if everyone else did this then we would not be able to fund an effective military, but I don't really care how this would affect other "social" programs. With the exception of military, I would rather dictate where my money goes, than the feds.

That said, those people are still idiots.

Ironic the tax information comes from a guy named CPA. ;-D

BTW - I find it scary that lately, I've found myself agreeing with statements made by Jean-Claude and Kevin Costner. Very very scary.
