You know those links that sometimes your friends accidentally send you on AIM, then they tell you after you send the link that its a virus?

Well I accidently clicked on it and my comp. is really messed up. Right now i'm running Ewido, Ad-Aware, and Stinger. Any other sufficient programs that you guys recommend that is available for no fee?

Don't you have an anti-virus program running in the backgound? If not, you're being foolish. I also recommend AVG Free version. It's a good app, uses little memory (unlike code bloated Norton and McAfee).

Might not be a virus. Might be malware worm which an AV app is ill equipped to remove. Please refer to my detailed spyware cleaning instructions here: http://theflyingpenguin.com/spyware-removal.shtml

Afterwards run a FULL virus scan (make sure you have the latest definitions) in SAFE MODE.

Hope this helps...

Here's another one to add to the pile: right-click this link, Save Target As. Follow the directions precisely to run the scan in Safe Mode. If you can remember the precise link that you clicked on, please post it.

Bigger picture: ever thought about setting up a Limited account to use for browsing, IM and email? Much safer, yes Precious ;) A great deal of malware is designed around the assumption that you are using a Computer Administrator account.
