Hi,

I'm looking for an Anti-Virus solution for a small office with the following config:

1 Server with Windows 2003 SBS Standard R2
4 Workstations with Windows XP Professional SP2

I was looking into these solutions:

1# Panda Business Secure 5 Licenses (will cost me 112? / 150$ for a year, since I have a 50% discount)

2# McAfee (What package would you recommend?)

3# Norton Anti-Virus for small Businesses (is this the pack I need?)

From the 3 above, or some else you can post, which would you recommend?

I personally think panda is fine, since it gives me central control from the server, automatic deploy and definitions update to the workstations, it has firewall, antivirus, antispyware, and I have a 50% discount in price.

Thanks in advance.

Server-based AV programs are all about ease of installation, reliability, and ease of management. You definitely want to get a version that scans your incoming Exchange messages.

The most popular choice among SBS consultants in the U.S. seems to be Trend CSM Suite 3.0. It's relatively easy to set up. It only requires a single management TCP port to be opened to the client PCs, and it works well with SBS 2003 with ISA 2004 installed, as long as you don't choose the "Secure" web site option. Trend's CSM no longer includes anti-spyware, but there's a second package available that does.

I have one client that installed McAfee's managed AV services on their SBS 2003 Server. A few months later, McAfee proceeded to trash its own installation, generating hundreds of permission errors daily. The client shut it off.

I haven't used any recent Norton SBS packages, so I can't comment on them.

I've installed CA's latest stuff (eTrust 8.0 and their SBS Protection Suite V2) and found they had significant installation and configuration problems and required numerous TCP port openings. I like eTrust 7.x, but I'd never recommend CA's latest stuff.

There is nothing better than NOD32. Check it out. Great price on SBS Packages...easy to setup and it rocks.
