Now, I smoke and try to be considerate to non-smokers as I have no right to force my nasty habit on others but the ad that's been playing lately is getting ridiculous, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kuU6PgLAr4, one person smoking in the park and ..ZOMG, EVERYONE GRAB A WW1 STYLE GAS MASK!!!

Maybe you don't realize it but the stench travels pretty far. My fiancee' and I can always tell when a driver in front of us is smoking if we don't have our windows up and the recirculation on.

Here's the one they are airing here in NY. Hard to see and to listen to especially, isn't it?

If it's effective, I commend it.

Actually I have no problem with that ad as it's based in complete truth, kinda graphic but true. Problem with the park ad is it's one person outdoors smoking one cig and the whole park dons gas masks, why not keep those masks on the kids to protect them from smog, particulates and bus fumes, all of which we all come into contact with every day..

This is always the cig smoker's comeback though. There are dangerous chemicals in car exhaust fumes so... what? so outlaw cars?

It may be an exaggeration for effect, but second hand smoke is not something I care to breath in either.

Outdoor smoking is not an issue provided it's not RIGHT outside doors to buildings, that's annoying as hell.

I'd say that beyond ~10' in open air, if you have a problem with someone smoking, it's in your head.

It's way more than 10' (wind dependant, I guess)

There's one playing here about how people who work in places where smoking is allowed have a right to clean air. All I can think is "No, they don't". People have lots of rights, but clean air isn't one of them. There's no way to enforce that anyway. That fact that people expect to be surrounded by a bubble of purified air everywhere they go is ludicrous and unreasonable.

Lets get rid of combustion engines and oil as an energy source before we use that particular argument against cigarettes.

It's a little different when the source is in your face.

Why don't you put your nose up a tailpipe for a minute and then come back and make that argument.

And I agree with planes, stores, restaurants, ect. but portraying one person smoking in an open air park means using gas masks is getting kind a ridiculous, these people are getting like MADD, so self-righteous it's stupid IMO, one burning cig in a park makes it a"toxic wasteland!', LOL..

Who in the fuck still says this?
Nobody smokes in your face. This isn't the 70's.

I totally feel like this when I go to parks, and even when I go play softball and some asshole in the stands decides they need to light up and share with everyone else. Well fuck you.

I totally agree with this ad. EVERY public space should be smoke free. Parks, sidewalks, streets, EVERY public place. Period. Use your death sticks in your own damned house.

The smoke does travel pretty darn far; I can usually tell if someone is smoking in the area even if I can't see it. If I can smell it, then I'm obviously inhaling it.

If people want to smoke, that is their choice. But I think it's BS when I have to walk through a cloud of it to get somewhere, like right outside of work.

In the workplace, they do have a right to relatively clean air under OSHA rules. I don't think that means not a single person smoking, but if you have 50 people smoking in a confined room, I would guess that would not pass OSHA standards.

We have designated areas in our parks placed well away from the ball field so the smoke wont go there, of course to a self righteous person like yourself that would be a totally unacceptable compromise..

I thought it was a good reflection of real life. If you smoke around non smokers you're being an asshole with no regard for people around you.

Smoke in your car with the windows up or get an e-cig.

Define well away. But that would be fine. As long as I can't smell it and don't have to breathe it.
