I agree, although I wouldn't put it in the context you used. I understand you mean "If you were a rapist..." but any way - this could definetely just make things worse for the women.

Not only that but I find this stupid as a whole. Obviously rapists will be looking for this when they are committing the crime - and can probably simply pull it out the same way the women would at the end of the day. Its like DRM in the media age, only the ignorant and downright naive will be affected by it. I'm sure rapists read the news too

I dont think using it maliciously is what the problem will be. The problem is that the guy is just gonna kill the woman when it happens. In south africa, you dont get mugged. You get killed and then mugged. The crime is out of control there. In the long run it will probably deter rape, but in the short term, alot of woman are gonna get murdered rather than raped when this happens.

What makes you think they won't just look for this device now? After they find it they will still rape her and then probably kill her too. Not only that but even if the device works, what do you think a rapist will do assuming he can tolerate the pain? He'll already be hopped up on adrenaline, so chances are he'll still be able to break the womens neck.

This is just a bad idea. Now if the teeth of the device we're lined with some sort of poison that out right killed that guy - maybe. But that of course will raise a whole new set of flags for the PC lib people anway - I would think its perfectly fine. Its like shooting a guy that breaks into your house, and has a gun, in the leg just because you don't want to kill him. Its not worth it to take the chance that he will survive and end up killing you. Either just let the guy rob you, or kill the guy outright. Another example would be car jacking, just let the guy have your car its not worth your life.

Am I saying I'd let the guy rape me if I was a women? No, but I would be carrying a gun or a hopped up tazer or something if I was a women living in such an area. I certainly wouldn't be stuffing something uncomfortable inside of me only to be of use when the act is occuring. Maybe if she carry's a weapon AND has this as backup, that might be ok.
 
I also don't understand why the woman would want to let the situation get to the point where he can even stick it in her. If it's already to that point, chances are the guy could've beat her up or worse, BEFORE raping her. This defense system is crappy.

You know what women have to do? They have to deny them the chance to even touch, whether it be with a night stick or a magnum. I don't care really, as long as she cripples him for life.

Don't even let it get to that point, just shoot the M-Fer in the head, or beat his brains out with one of those extend-able night sticks. Learn self defense, learn to hit fatally. I taught my girlfriend to fight dirty, and not just dirty, but with the intent to kill. There is no reason why the woman should ever become a victim in the first place.
 
I could see this getting used by prostitutes too. Yes, the guy could check first, but he might not even know this device exists.

that would really suck if a girl was wearing one of those and you were both drunk at a party and she wanted to have sex, but forgot she was wearing it... you'd be too drunk to notice and end up getting your dick barbed.

This is an interesting tool. The only unfortunate thing is it's something that would require a ton of people to use to be effective. I don't envision highschool girls running around with these on every day "just in case".

That, and generally, most convicted rapists seem to say that a woman who looks like--or begins to--put up any sort of decent resistance will be passed up.

Although with this device, as sad as it may be, I don't imagine you'd see much of a decline in rape per se...maybe vaginal rape, but not rape as a whole.
