The organization, whose full name is Citizens of Metro for Property and Safety and Security, has been trying to stop adult bookstores and sex shops from opening near residential neighborhoods.

I feel sorry for the guy, but I don't see anywhere in the story where he was trying to regulate morality. What is so wrong with preventing adult bookstores and such from being opened near residential neighborhoods or by places where parents may take thier children?

We've got adult establishements near us, but they are in a part of town that are fairly isolated from the general public. I don't care what people want to do with their free time, but if an adult bookstore tried to open in my neighborhood I would be pretty pissed.

You bring up an interesting point which I think workd to the pshycology of these self-appointed moralists. They think because *they* are weak and can't control themselves obviously no one else can so need laws and punitive measures to prevent thier behavior and maybe thier deamons will go away. I have zero sympathy for people w/o self control. This includes smokers, gamblers, druggies etc all are weak but the choice should still be there for all.

So let me guess . . . COMPASS is fiercely opposed to adult bookstores and sex shops (granted I'm not sure I know what a sex shop sells that would be different from an adult bookstore) . . . but are supportive of prostitution?
