Yeah and if we don't do what they want the next thing you know they'll be taking potshots at Americans and blowing up our embassy. I bet you that those who were protesting were members of the Christian Tribes there and not the Muslim Tribes.
 
France has 2,500 troops based in Ivory Coast to protect its citizens
Is this not the meat/potatoes of it? If you're a frenchy you feel this is just. If you're a citizen of the IC you see foreign troops on your soil and it rubs you the wrong way.

I believe they are upset with the French because they didn't take on the Muslim Rebels and helped broker a deal giving these Rebels a say in the Government. This whole squabble is about Tribal and Religious differences

Could be. With multinationals bailing out left and right (assuming frenchy corps, too) is there a vital French Strategic Interest here other than not surrendering?
