Antenna Help

bunker

Lifer

I currently have a $15 indoor amplified antenna and pick up all the major networks with the exception of CBS, but i do have to rotate the antenna depending on which channel I'm watching.

Problem is, if I'm not around and the DVR goes to record, I don't get what I want to record if the antenna isn't in the right spot.

I was hoping an omnidirectional antenna on the roof would cut it, but, CBS is on channel 6.1, VHF, and my understanding is omni antennas suck for VHF.

Here's the antennaweb.com results for my location. Notice where channel six is (letter B) and add in the fact it's VHF. Hell, Channel 47.1 is 40 miles away and I pick it up fine with my p.o.s. indoor antenna. You'd think I could pick up a vhf station that's only about 16 miles away!

Any suggestions? I'd rather not have to use a rotator either if I have a choice.

Thought I'd update this...
On the recommendation from another forum, I bought this Radio Shack special and installed it in my attic.

Works wonders. I'm picking up all the hd channels in my area as well as a few from the next town 40 miles over.

Oh, and SCSIRAID, I emailed the engineer at channel six and he informed me 6.1 is in fact on UHF channel 59.
