How many multi-billion dollar companies have you founded?

How many industries have you changed?

What does your burger flipping job pay?

Strictly speaking, from a salary standpoint, the burger flipper makes more money than Jobs. Jobs has an annual salary of $1. He has millions/billions of dollars in stock with Apple, Pixar and Disney though.

The design has multiple flaws. Who was the genius who pushed for a glass back?

Phones with plastic/metal/rubber backs end up with a ding/dent/scratch when you drop them. The iPhone 4 ends up with a

Apple is going to make a killing off $30 rubber-bands and protection plans.

One mans flaw is his profit. er... or something like that. STFU and buy a $29 bumper that costs 25 cents to make. Alleviates both "flaws"

Apple needs to invest in gorilla glass.

Yeah right and while they're at it make it water proof and shock/bomb/sand proof like 810F calls for. Make it last a week without charge. Oh wait it would look like this and none of you metros would buy it.

Placing metal to bridge the gap causes the same problem:

The problem seems to be founded in bridging the 2 antenna's (wifi to 3g) as this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvH-i7rKPJc&feature=player_embedded

shows that simply placing a key between the 2 causes the signal strength to exhibit the same issues as holding the bottom left corner with your hand.
Various people must be more or less conductive resulting in you having issues or not...

No phone should need a separately sold accessory like a case to ensure functionality. Cases are for protection and/or style and shouldn't be required to get better reception.

After all, how is this really different than if, on the iPhone v5, they decided to make it so the backplate and battery wouldn't stay attached to the phone unless you bought a case?

So shady that the initial response was that it was only a graphical/UI problem. I think the test calls pretty much trump that.

Err.. the Droid uses Gorilla Glass just fine.

LOL, I've got an N1 I have to hold with a pair of salad tongs, and Google got a free pass on it. I read everything from "Well just hold it different." "You're an early adopter, don't expect perfection." "How can Google be responsible, HTC built it."

And I'm not even going to talk about how the damn thing freezes when it gets warm and requires it to be put to sleep so the screen recalibrates itself... At least 5 times a day...

There's apologists on both sides of the aisle...

Of course it sucks but at least there's many different ways to get your Android fix compared to the only way to get your Apple fix. It's kinda different when one company controls every aspect of the phone and us as consumers always hold Apple devices to higher standards cus they've spoiled us like that. One of the reasons why people buy Apple products is cus they usually just work with little to no bugs.

I have a feeling there's a software fix that's going to roll out fairly quickly, we shall see...

In the meantime, OMG, what a train wreck of a phone, this smacks of Apple knowing about this problem and having the bumper cases proves it, it's a flipping conspiracy, I tell you...

I think that's paet of the problem. If google got a pass it's because it was first gen hardware coupled with 'wait.. Google has a phone!?' Apple prides itself on hardware and they only get one shot a year to do it right. I honestly hope they get this fixed with software. Maybe one day it will come to Sprint... Ha? :p

basically, regardless of what may or may not have happened with Google, more is expected from Apple and rightfully so. To accept otherwise is not a good thing for them or consumers.

I might be totally wrong but I think the fix will likely be a teflon coating on the antenna or perhaps a total redesign. Not very knowledgeable here but don't see how this can be fixed in software. However, they could probably have at&t apply the coating on those phones already sold.

Normally I would blow this sort of thing off as a minor eng error but given that expert(s) predicted prior to the phone release that this sort of issue would occur; it strongly suggest that apple was sloppy. That combined with their response shows a total lack of empathy for the consumers...
