My main machine is in that case, yes you can see the power and HD leds.

How well do you like this PC6070A plus? At 155$ plus shipping it doesn't look too bad.
It has one 120mm fan out the back right?

Also considered the Praetorian from coolermaster but I know I'd have to replace the noisy fans or get a fan controller for all the 80 mm fans on it.

Sorry I have the original 6070, not the "plus", but I've made a few modifications. I think the only difference is the fans used though.

If your happy with you're V2100 you should like the 6070, it?s somewhere in-between the PC60 and the V1100 in design. It has a thick solid 3-4mm AL door and sound dampening just like the V1100.

I've also built a system around the CM Praetorian which is also great. By far one of the best looking cases I've ever seen and very well put together. I almost always swap the fans out of the high-end systems I build so I can't comment on the fans.

Went ahead and got the Praetorian for its looks. I wanted something different this time with an open design in all black. I know this one will be noisier but hopefully won't leave the floor with all the fans running. I will use that starview to swich between the systems at will and haven't decided whether to use XP on both or Linux on the Intel internet box.

Just got my Praetorian in today. Well I like it for the simple lines and easy pullout
motherboard tray and the reset button that my 2100 Lian was missing.

However the aluminum is really flimsy compared to my 2100 and it really is not in the same
class as some of the Lian cases in my opinion. If I had to do it all over again I would have just purchased a 1100 Lian in black when the price was 120$ at Excaliber. But you live and learn I guess.

The frame of the ATC series / Praetorian (dumb name) is very solid, anything but flimsy. The side panels are thinner but they aren't structural so it doesn?t matter, still I wouldn?t call them flimsy either...

Operandi....Your right maybe the thickness of the side panels are not real critical to keeping the vibration in check. But maybe adding the foam panels like Lian might keep a little of the sound down. For my lowly 1ghz Intel motherboard and cpu that doesn't produce much heat this is a great case with its 80mm fans and will probably serve me well. But if I ever upgrade to a higher Heat processor like an AMD fx-55 wonder how well it will deal with the extra heat in this Praetorian case?

On my Lian 2100 the case really vibrates when I access my second Toshiba CD rom drive. I may just eventually replace the drive since my Iomega drive is really quiet and no vibration transferred. The Fortron supply I'm using is suppose to be noisier than say an Neo Antec or Seasonic S12 but for me that is not an issue as the supply has just a purring sound at the current draw it is using. The only slight distraction is when the processor needs more processing power and Amds Cool and Quiet kicks in my retail fan at a higher speed level. I can tell by the noticeable higher whining of the fan. I have a Panflo just waiting to be installed on an thermalright XP-90 heatsink.

On a positive note using this Praetorian was the fastest build for me yet. Great motherboard tray and again like the blue Leds. Aside from the 80mm case fans and a little higher noise I like the clean looks of the case.

People spend $500 on a video card that is the Big Dog for 6 months. A good quality case will be functional for years. I have had an OEM version of the Supermicro 750 for 4 years and it has outlasted many components.

IMHO a good quality case provides a better ROI than any other component.

Then it's a Cadillac without a muffler!!
Honestly, nothing's more important to me at this time than the case's ability to provide quiet computing.
Cruise on over to Silent PC Review and see how well they've rated any case that's all-aluminum. These things are just almost impossible to quiet.
Comparing the V1100 and V2100 to the P180 is grossly unfair. The P180 is twice as good a case for half the price.

Your systems noise signature is largely the sum of the components, not the case or case material. I have a moderately modified Lian Li PC6070; almost any low ambient noise drowns it out, I have to wait till 2:00AM and close all the windows to really be able to notice it.

If all you care about is acoustics then yes the P180 is a better choice. If you want a good balance of construction, aesthetics and acoustics the V1100 wins.

The Lian 1100 and 2100 have casters which I needed and are lockable and also I like the exhaust vent on the back of the case to keep out the dirt. Don't think the Antech P180 has those things.

For the ultimate quiet computer just get a good medium sized wood cabinet or glass doored entertainment system....line with black foam and just run your loud cool system inside of it. I've got a friend that uses this method of silencing and you can barely hear it. And you don't have to worry about the damn dust bunnies either. Better for the electronic components and your ears. All the work of silencing the PC case is eliminated.

I'd much rather spend my money on the internals than wasting $300 on a case... Just go with the Antec.

One thing nice about the Lian cases are that the Adda Fans are really pretty nice and quiet from the start. Since I paid only 180$ for the Lian 2100 it was a very good deal. If you could find it less than 230$ it would be worth it. And less than 180$ for the Lian 1100 would be a steal.

On the contrary this Praetorian sounds like a mac truck. So I spent 50$ on 4 nexus fans a few minutes ago to bring the total cost of the case up to 170$. So I get half the quality at about the same price. Not a good deal. So with the Lian at least you don't have to do a lot of mods to it to get a fairly decent quiet case.

The Lian Li 2100 series is a ~$250 oven for pc components. It has horrible air flow. If you plan on putting high end components into it, pick another case.
However, the case is quiet though. Mainly due to lack of fans.

I'd have to disagree about the airflow.... I don't think it is that bad. The case is about twice the size of my Praetorian. So right away it has room for more heat expansion. It has holes at the top and back for the video card heat to escape. Plus it has compartments for each thing like the power supply so the heat of one will not add to the other. My hard drive sits right on a 120mm fan so no heat problem there either...sucking up cooler air from underneath the case. You could even add an extra fan or something to cool your video card if your using a hotter Nvidia card if your worried about it not getting enough air across it. Don't see any problem with my Ati xl800 though.
