Antec tx1050b case 29.99 *free shipping* *refurbished*

Felt I needed to comment on this case. Bought one for my brother, not from antec, but off ebay. The double hinge door design is terrible. It needs much stronger hinge pins. If you order it, EXPECT that the thin plastic knubs that hold both the door and the hinge onto the case are going to break. I ended up screwing the hinge into the frame, and drilling out and then bending and putting a nail through the top of the door into the hinge! Other than that this is a great design for cases that Antec kept for a while but they, including their clones, have moved away from and towards the crazy designs with see through everything or towards standard boring boxes! I have their 1040 and 1050 cases and both have much thicker pins to hold the door. I don't understand why they went cheapo on us!

Wow! This is my first reply ever after years and years of reading. I believe I tried to sign up a long time ago and they wouldn't allow hotmail addresses and now apparently they do. Yay!

I think it's a decent deal...I've always been fond of the aesthetics of that design (and all the clones).

I ordered one on the off chance it'll come with a 500watt power supply, according to antec's website the case is supposed to include a sp-500 psu, but its a refurbished case so who's to say part of the refurbishing included taking out the power supply.

From the very bottom of the Fry's page....Emphasis mine...

"Refurbished with a 90 Day Warranty
Does not include a Power Supply"

I did not know you could RMA a computer case...wow. Who would pay for the shipping, and who would expect much out of the psu provided in there. I'm not saying I haven't used PSUs that came with cases but I don't expect much from there either.

Look at the inside case picture: link

It looks like a Chieftec Dragon!!!

I think I'm going to try and order three of them.

Edit: Couldn't resist. Ordered four of them. Looking at the shipping cost, and then the "shipping savings" - the shipping is almost as much as the item! Fry's must really want to get rid of these things.

Does a refur case come with all the accessories?

Usually with the necessary tool-less drive accessories, but that's about it. I have gotten some that were practically brand new too, however.

I would like to confirm this. I have the 1080 and after a few years, the hinges on the door died and bye bye door.

I presently use an old used Alienware branded Chieftec Dragon case that I picked up cheap as a dead computer from a mom and pop store. Great case, so easy to work in, well designed. Hard to go wrong with basic black.... And the interior of the Antec is a dead ringer for mine. Smart move!

Does anyone know what carrier Frys will use to ship these beasts? I'm hoping it's UPS, because they know where I live. FedEx has issues delivering my packages, and DHL doesn't deliver in the US of A anymore. IIRC, Frys used to use DHL, that's why I wonder.

Based on my recent fry's orders, they hand it off to DHL who then hands it off to Fedex ground. I think DHL may still be handling their warehousing for now.

That's a little later. Just like this one. But with the black on black Alienware logo. Back when they were still matte, not yet all shiney. I think the computer had been a 1.0Ghz screamer!

Edit: Here's the exact model... 'cept in silver ....

Yeah, the tracking number on my Frys account for this order points to Fedex web page. Unfortunately, the tracking number doesn't resolve yet.

I have that exact case in black/silver. It used to be my main case but since then I've moved on to the Antec Solo. It's being used for my parents computer.

I did like how roomy it was but the case was damn heavy taking it back and forth during my college.

It's great to work on, but I wouldn't want to lug it around much either. Oddly enough, I have an Antec Solo case sitting here, at this very moment, waiting a future build.

How heavy are these cases? The reason that I ask is, my tracking data for FedEx lists these as:
Service typeHome Delivery
Weight30.3 lbs/13.7 kg

Only 30lbs, for FOUR cases? Does that seem right to you?

They should be here the 11th, I guess I'll find out. I'm wondering if Frys sent each case as a seperate shipping entity, in which case, I only have a single tracking number, and not four of them. 🙁
