Hey Guys, a friend of mine is planning to sell a BFG GTX280 for $200 to me but the only thing I'm worried about is if my PSU is enough for it?

My System specs are

Mobo: MSI P6N SLI PLatinum
CPU: Intel C2D E6750 @ 3.0ghz 1.32v
Vid: EVGA 8800GTS 320MB
Mem: 2x2GB of G.Skill PC6400 800MHZ
PSU: Antec TruePowerTrio 550W
HDD: 1xSeagate 300GB

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

PSU capacity-related questions go in the PSUs forum.

I have a Corsair HX620 PSU running a GTX280 absolutely fine. The Truepower Trio has the same three, 18 amp, 12 volt rails as the HX620. I know the HX620 is more beefier but you should run into no issues with that PSU.

Just make sure that PSU has 8PIN + 6PIN PCI-Express power cables. If not then the card should come with a molex adapter, make sure you ask your friend for it.

I think your PS would be fine. It likely doesn't have the 8 pin adapter but it should be included with the GPU. I'm running 2 8800GTs in SLI using a 600w OCZ GameXtream.🙂

No, your PS can't handle it. Tell your friend to sell that card to me for $200 instead 😛

J/K that's a sweet deal you're getting 🙂
